She Immersed Herself in the Work – and Found a New ‘Destiny’
“Occasionally, I would think, ‘What if I start getting sick?’ In those moments, I would meditate – and it would always get me through.”
When Destiny started experiencing a series of uncomfortable symptoms several years ago, the onset was sudden and severe. Myriad hormonal imbalances; blood disorders; protein and nutrient deficiencies; shooting nerve pain; severe depression; sleep issues; low blood oxygen levels; osteopenia ... even anaphylactic shock. Diagnosed with neutropenia, or extremely limited white blood cells, her immune system was collapsing.
As she became more and more isolated by illness, Destiny was overcome by fear. Nothing in her environment felt friendly or safe. She had to make drastic lifestyle changes and sacrifices. Feeling sorry for herself, she wondered if there could be more to life. And then, reminded of Dr Joe’s work, she thought: “Oh yeah. The guy that helps people heal themselves.”
Destiny immersed herself in the work. She studied books, podcasts, and Stories of Transformation. She meditated for hours a day – not to heal, but to change. “For the first time in my life, I was choosing myself and ... choosing love,” she says today. And when she had her moment – a moment that strengthened her belief in what was possible – she knew she was on her way to healing.
As Dr Joe says in this powerful onstage conversation, “When she lost her belief, and she defaulted ... she went back in there ... and went again. That is what it takes. That is exactly what it takes to change.”
