Summoning the Signature of Gratitude

People new to this work often ask, “How do I feel the emotions of my future if I haven’t experienced it yet?” When elevated emotions seem out of reach, gratitude is the best place to begin. It’s easy for most of us to summon something we’re grateful for. And the body is so objective, it doesn’t know the difference between a real-life experience and an emotion created by thought alone. So, when you practice feeling grateful, your body begins to accept, believe, and surrender it really is in a state of gratitude ... the ultimate state of receiving.
Suddenly, you’re no longer analyzing; no longer judging; no longer dividing your energy. As you put your attention on gratitude – and where you place your attention is where you place your energy – you generate energy in your heart. The heart receives the message it’s OK to relax – and sends a signal that awakens the brain. Relaxed in the heart; awake in the brain. Now, you’re able to imagine new possibilities; to connect to that new future you couldn’t see – couldn’t feel – before.
