After Solara became cancer-free following a terminal breast cancer diagnosis, one major part of her healing remained. A tumor had left behind a 17-centimeter ulcer, and doctors told her she would likely need complicated surgery that would remove what remained of her breast.

But Solara wasn't only imagining a healed body. She imagined the life she wanted to return to. After more than two years unable to get in the water, she began envisioning her future self with a healthy breast, swimming with her dogs and swimming again in Cancun. She became “entangled” with that future version of herself.

Alongside her continued practice, Solara also received donated stem-cell treatment after telling her doctors she couldn't afford it. Over time, she says the wound continued closing. Then, just ten days before returning to Cancun, the remaining scab fell away and revealed new skin.

And Solara went swimming.

For Solara, the experience became about more than healing. It was about becoming so connected to the future she envisioned that she continued moving toward it without knowing exactly how it would arrive. Along the way, she says she also learned how to receive an unexpected gift of abundance.
