After 17 Years of Chronic Back Pain, She's Living Fully Again

Seventeen years ago, a bicycle accident changed Adina’s life. After multiple surgeries, she developed severe chronic back pain that gradually took away the active life she loved. She eventually reached a point where she could barely walk around the block.

At first, she resisted the idea that changing her mind could have anything to do with changing her experience of pain. Her MRIs showed physical problems, and to her, the evidence seemed clear. But after reaching a low point physically and emotionally, she decided to explore Dr Joe Dispenza’s work.

Three weeks into the online course, Adina says her body hadn’t changed yet – but she had. Her husband noticed the emotional shift too, and together they attended her first retreat.

Five days after returning home, they went to the beach for a walking meditation. When her husband offered to get the car afterward, Adina surprised herself: “My back’s okay. Let’s walk.”

She walked a mile to breakfast, cleaned the garage, and spent the afternoon playing with her granddaughter – all without the level of back pain that had shaped her life for years.

And that wasn’t the only change. After years of struggling with spasmodic dysphonia and withdrawing from social situations because speaking had become so difficult, Adina says she has her voice back too. Today, she leads a walking meditation group every weekend, speaking in front of 25 to 40 people.

For Adina, getting her life back didn’t simply mean being able to move again. It meant traveling, speaking, connecting, serving her community – and returning to the person her husband had been missing all those years.
