At the beginning of these guided meditations, Dr Joe uses convergent and divergent focus techniques so that you will begin to produce very organized, coherent and integrated brain-wave patterns. A convergent technique is when you focus on a body part; a divergent technique is when you focus on the space around your body. By following his instructions, your brain-waves will begin to slow down from beta to alpha or theta so that you bypass the analytical mind and enter the subconscious mind in order to reprogram unwanted habits, emotional states and behaviors.
Body Parts-Space Meditation is an induction technique for you to maintain and continue your growth after Dr Joe's 4-week change program used from the book Breaking the Habit Being Yourself. For further instructional use, please refer to Chapters 9 through 13 of Dr Joe's book Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself.
