Indian Wells Research Study

Dr Joe Dispenza / 03 December 2020

In February 2020, at our last Week Long Advanced Retreat in Indian Wells, California, Dr Joe and the research team partnered with University of California San Diego (UCSD) to measure a host of biological markers to determine the effects of meditation in novice and advanced meditators in our community.

Thirty-two subjects were randomly selected. Pre- and post-measurements were recorded in quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) brain scans and heart rate variability (HRV) scans. In addition, blood was drawn from subjects before and after the retreat in order to observe the various blood markers that correlate with the body’s response to meditation before and after the week-long event. Real time EEG (electroencephalogram) and ECG (electrocardiogram) were also studied to determine the relationship between brain and heart coherence during meditation. Finally, real-time brain scans (QEEG), as well as HRV measurements, were recorded during three different coherence-healing sessions to correlate any coherent biological changes between the healers and healees. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed this research, the preliminary results are outstanding. Now with the lab reopened, stay tuned for more news.
